We need YOU for the upcoming Africa Business Forum!

We are looking for volunteers to help out with activities such as check-in, food service, coat check, sound etc. Individuals who are excited and willing to learn about business in Africa, and prepared to be fully active on the day of the forum.


Full Availability on Saturday, January 25th 2020 (8am – 5pm)

The UBC Nest – 6133 University Blvd, Vancouver BC

Availability on January 19th for Forum run-through. (2 hours)

  1. Check-in (registration, handing out the swag bags) 
  2. Coat-check
  3. 1 volunteer in each room during panels to pass microphone to question givers or run any emergency errands needed for panel directors or speakers.
  4. Usher (one giving directions~not overly necessary to be designated, we’ll have signs) 
  5. Laying out breakfast and ensuring food is always available 
  6. Dishing lunch (12 pm) as well as handing it out to delegates. Lunches will be colour-coded. 
  7. 1 or 2 volunteers dedicated to taking care of speakers throughout, therefore making sure the speakers lounge (lounge upstairs) is ready for their breakfast, lunch, has tissue. The speakers and moderators should always have water or that volunteer present to ask. 
  8. Change of set-up in the great hall and all other panel rooms. 
  9. Clear up after every meal or any rubbish you see lying around. 
  10. One volunteer who can drive (Available to assist with the pick-up of some foodstuff, equipment, etc. on January 24th) 
  • Dark (black or navy blue) pants or jeans (no rips/low waist) 
  • Volunteer t-shirt 
  • Free access to the ABF (your timetable will allow you to attend at least one panel, as well as the closing part).
  • Opportunity to network with exec team, panel speakers, moderators and other attendees. 
  • Free t-shirt, goodie bag and food served at the forum. 
  • Great learning experience to add on your CV. 
  • Behind-the-scenes look into the work that goes into the forum.
